My Zj is running too rich
Hey guys I need some ideas. My 93 5.2 v8 zj us running way too rich. i can smell it when i'm parked and at red lights. it's a stock motor except it has a flow master exhaust and a free flow intake (old school like a carburetor doughnut). I replaced the air filter, the plugs, a couple vacumlines and cleaned the throtle body back and front, i also removed the o2 sensor and cleaned with carb cleaner. this helped a little bit. anybody got any other ideas? also i cannt find it but i was told that in the intake manifold there is a air temp sensor, could this be a prob and where is it? thanks

The Intake Air Temp sensor is screwed into the intake manifold on the pass. side behind the alternator.
I've never tried to clean an O2 sensor.
Which vac. lines, and were they replaced in the same location?
Make sure the Map sensor vac. line and electrical plug is properly connected.
Check the dist. cap and rotor for arcing/burnt condition.
You need good plug wires.
And Welcome to CF.

A commonly overlooked item is the coolant temp sensor, normally located in the thermostat housing. This is not the temp sensor used to operate the temp gauge...
The CTS provides critical engine temp information to the PCM and if it's not sensing properly, will cause the PCM to cause an overly rich fuel mixture. There are simple hot/cold tests used with an ohmmeter to see if it's working but if it looks caked with coolant deposits, or if it's just old, I'd replace it.
Cheers.
