Our timeframe was quickly pushed up to get a lift and tires so I'm here asking instead of searching and researching.

Bone stock 05 WK Limited Hemi Trail Rated with boring street tires.

I'm looking at a 2 or 3 inch lift and tires so I can take it on some trails out here in Colorado. I've looked up all these:

http://www.rockkrawler.com/pages/cat....php?r_cat=100
http://www.rocky-road.com/wk-grand-c...-lift-kit.html
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_wk_2.html

I'm still not sure which one would be best. And of course I'm not sure where to look for tires. I'm thinking 285/70/17 but would like opinions on this as well.

THANK YOU to all who reply with thoughts/opinions!

There is a new vendor to the site, a tire place. That wouldn't be a bad place to start for tires.

If you're on a budget, check out http://www.treadwright.com - they are retreads, but the company as well as the tires have great reviews - including reviews from JP Magazine.

Otherwise, I've always found that discounttire.com has very good prices on tires. If you can stomach Pep Boys, they're running a buy 3 get the 4th free special on tires right now. I'm not sure what sizes it is limited to though.

Rock Krawler, and either BFG KM2's or Goodyear MT/R's

All of your help is appreciated. What about Cooper discoverer stt? I see buy 3 get 1 deal at Pep boys.

I'm leaning towards the Rocky-Road lift but certainly not sold yet. Still looking at the suggested Rock Krawler as well.

After looking up who uses what I have found that people were choosing the Rough Country twice as much as other budget lifts. hmmmm....

I'm seeing they recommend 265/70/17 so now I need to find the best place to buy them. That should be easy, but picking a brand won't.

I've heard to NEVER buy ANYTHING from Rocky Road! Their customer service is horrible and it takes forever to get your stuff. I've also heard not to buy any Rough Country lift unless you go with their X-series. The components they sell with the lower priced lifts are crap. You get what you pay for. I have an OME lift in my WJ and I love it.

I don't know anything about that specific tire, but I do know that cooper is a great tire.

Before I got my wrangler rts tires, I had cooper cobra's on my xj... they were street tires, but I thrashed those things off road to the point of even putting a gash in the sidewall (not an offroad tire, didn't expect much else) - I drove around for about 6 months with it like that (worriedly) until I could afford new tires and they held air and still rode well.

Wow, I've been out of the off-road loop for far too long! I used to have a 77 CJ7 and I've been more interested in performance cars lately. It is good to be back. I thought OME was Original Manufacturing Equipment. But an internet search showed Old Man Emu. *sigh* I need to immerse myself in 4WD terminology again.

lol... that's okay man, took me a little bit to figure it out at first too.

If you need anymore help with the terminology used in the forums here, we've got a thread for that! https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f30/acronyms-3600/

glad we can help!

Does anyone have bought-at-Walmart Goodyear Wrangler tires? They are the cheapest I can find that are in the 265-70-17 that appear to offer decent treads.

My brother-in-law had those on his s10 blazer... said they were a great tire. Work really well in the sand. i don't think he ever took them in the mud though.

Discount will beat any price. I'd rather deal with them.
