Default My Jeep got me....two days in a row....

Thursday, I went to the gas station, got some gas, started the jeep back up then it died. Turns out to have been a burned out ignition coil..........$338

The next day Friday, half-way on my way to work I suddenly loose my power steering, I pull over, get a tow, and have to taken back to the same shop. This time it was the water pump that fell apart........$280

Did someone put a jinx on my jeep? The guys at the shop (who I have been taking my cars to for years and years) couldn't believe it.

I hope my jeep lasts a few more paychecks before deciding to take another crap on me.

Ouch! Are you handy at all? That's less than $100 worth of decent replacement parts and a couple hours in the driveway.

Wow! 600 bucks for water pump and ignition coil? You could do a decent lil lift for that. I've been telling my dad we need to open a shop. Lol

You should go buy a Haynes manual and basic set of tools and start saving some money!

I would have, but I don't have any tools for that and I didnt know the ignition coil went out. I initially thought it was the fuel pump. As far as those two items go, I am not that "handy" in dealing with fixing things of that nature.

Sometimes it's not as easy as it seems. I would have had NO idea where to start looking to replace what. If I knew for sure what it was, I could have had my buddy come over and help me out.

a quick question.......lately my jeep has had a slight bogging down every now and then while waiting at a traffic light. Could this have been caused by the dying water pump?

Possibly if it was so worn it put the extra drag on the belt. More than likely I would say you alternator is reaching its last leg.

I drove the truck to the laundry mat with no issue. I got out of the jeep, left it running, opened the hood and I listened real close if I could hear squeaking denoting a worn bearing somewhere. I didn't hear one single squeak.

As far as the alternator goes, the voltage on my dash read at just over 14 volts. I read online that this is what an alternator should be putting out.

I just hope this jeep lasts for a good couple of months before needing anything else major.

I also noticed that my temp stays a bit cooler than it did before the new water pump was installed. now the temp range goes from 1/4 to just under a 1/3.

May the jeep gods spare me any more calamities for a good long while.

Sounds like you are competent enough to do you own repairs. Lol. Start buying tools!
