My 08 grand Cherokee seems to be burning oil. Help
My 08 jeep grand Cherokee has been burning oil. I have checked every place I could think of and have not seen any leaks what so ever... I bought it about a yr ago and have gotten the first 2 oil changes done at the dealer ship and the last 1 I did myself. I noticed that the oil that came out of it when I change it myself was nowhere close to 6 quarts more like 4 1/4. I checked it today randomly and I was well under the safe line. Y is my jeep burning oil this fast. I will add that I've been running fully synthetic Pennzoil platinum 5w 20 since buying it.

Engine is wearing out. Probably have bad valve seals. Is it smoking does it smell like oil when you are behind it?

Check with your local dealer and see if you're still covered under any type of warranty left on this vehicle (3 year 36,000 miles) and if there are any TSBs (technical service bullitens) for oil consumption.

Welcome to CF.
X2 on checking on warranty coverage.
Which engine do you have? If it's the 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel it may have issues with the seals in the turbo leaking, though unlikely.
If not, check the pcv valve as it may be stuck/defective.
I'd try a thicker viscosity oil, like 10W30. That's what I've used in my '04 4.7L V8 since we bought it new in '03, and it now has 97,000+ miles on it and doesn't use any oil between changes.
