Smile motor swap

hello all I just blew up my engine in my 99wj. I actually lost a piston through the side of the block. I bought a engine off of ebay that came out of a 99 jeep cherokee. Well when I looked at the mounts I seen that the mounts down match up. Everything else looks good. I was wondering if there was a special mount that I can buy to hook up this engine. Thank you for your help.

can't you use the mounts from your old 4.0? I have a 4.0 in my ZJ and in my XJ the only difference (aside from belt tensioners and some other small stuff) is the brackets for the motor mounts and the mounts them selfs. I don't see why you couldn't just swap the stuff you need off your old block.

good luck!!

The mounts off the old block won't match up to the new block and the frame mounts are different. n Do you know if the frame mounts off a jeep cherokee will fit on my grand cherokee. If so I can weld them in place.

you have to take the motor mounts out of the cherokee inorder for it to fit inside the grand cherokee. they are the same motors exept for mounting style. the chrokee is alot smaller so you need to extend the mounts

yea but you will have to take the computer out of the jeep you got the motor out of. like same year. diffrent years may throw up some error codes if they dont have all same sensors for motor.
