Currently dealing with same issue, replaced coil, crank position sensor, spark plugs,TPS, IAC. I'm leaning towards the PCM

Check the cam sensor, AKA the pickup coil. And by check, I mean replace. Cheap and easy to do, it's right under the distributor cap.

I'm checking the PCM by pulling it out and putting it in my buddies zj to see if it makes his act funny. He has same year engine etc. If that's not it then I guess the pickup coil will be next

one other thing to check is the coolant temp sensor. that will make it start up then sputter and die because it wont read the warm up temp correctly to the computer. if it is the 5.2l like mine, theres a wiring issue with the oxygen sensor that required me to rewire the main and ground wires into the harness...

sounds wierd but the problem is that the wire gets toasted beacause of where it runs, or the pcm tries to run too much warm up voltage to the sensor, therefore messing up the fuel ratio

well my problem was that on a cold start the idle would go up to like 1600 then drop, then go back up. cue check engine light. put a scanner on it, pulled an o2 sensor code. put the new sensor in it, didnt work. so the scanner i was usin said to run a completely new ground wire. did that, no problems for the rest of last winter. summer hits and it starts doing it again. then one day it started doin that run for 2 minutes then sputter and die thing. so i had to run a new feed fire into the main harness. no problems since
