Magnum 5.9 LV8 engine
I am going to put a new Engine in my 1993 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4.
It currently has the same Engine I bought it with, the 4.0L V8. (160,000 miles and still going strong!)
I know that Jeep made one year with the Magnum 5.9 L V8 engine in 1998 but I was wondering if I could put this engine in my 1993.
If so what if any moficiations need to be made?
I'm new to the rebuild and any advice / suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

Well not knocking you or anything but if you didn't notice the 4.0 is a 6 cyl and not an 8 its prolly more than you are up for.
Basically just about everything in front of the firewall needs to be replaced, all the computer and wiring stuff is different and if i'm not mistaken they came with different transmissions as well.
And you will probably want to put a D44a rear end in it as well to handle the extra power. Its alot of work, i'd say your best bet is to either buy a junked one with the 5.9 already in it and swap everything over or just buy a good one with a 5.9 and drive that.

I could have been more thorough but usually anyone who is asking about it on CF isnt going to actually swap the engine.
And they both used 46re's the 5.9 one I think just had a bigger cooler. Maybe im wrong. And yes the T-case is different the 5.9 had NV 249's, but it doesnt mean the stock one wont bolt up.
AND if he bought a wrecked 5.9 ZJ most of the stuff for a swap would potentially be there just as I told him.
If you really want to be **** you can tell him about how he has to swap the hood louvers too if he wants it perfect.
