Default M/T Tires

I've been going in circles as to which M/T's to get. I've read reviews on the BFG's and the Mickey Thompsons Baja Claws, loud when worn and wearing fast respectively.

I'm kind of leaning towards the Pro-Comp XT's. Can anyone give me opinions on this tire? I like the idea of the extra tread on the sidewall and really like the looks of this tire but, I don't want a tire that I'm going to have to replace in a year... I don't mind the extra noise of a M/T, I just want something a little different than everyone else has and something that will last for awhile anyways, and of course pull me through just about anything I can get myself into.

Please stay away from the pro comp's not a good tire IMO. Take a look at Cooper STT's (I run them and love them) and the MAXXIS Bighorns.

X2 on both of those suggestions. Nothing but great reviews from what I have seen. Personally, I have the BFG M/T. They are loud, but have lasted quite a while.

Im going on 30k on my STT's they are wearing very well and have done nothing but great for me. I expect at least another 20k out of them.

Thanks guys, I looked at the Coopers and although I believe they are a good tire, the price that I found $177.00/ a piece is kind of steep. I found Bighorns at QuadraTec for $135.00/ a piece... that sounds more like it. I now have something to ponder....

Bighorns are also a well respected tire, nothing at all wrong with them.

First..BFG's didn't get as popular as they are because they suck. Although I have heard complaints that the sidewalls are not as tough as a lot of their competitors tires.

Second...I have Procomp Xtreme M/T's.

Great performance from my experience so far. But I have heard less favorable reviews on the X-Terrain. I'd say they compare more with an A/T rather then a M/T.

Third...Take a look at Trxus M/T's Great tire for the price. Everybody I know who has them is pretty happy with them.
Here's a Pic:

And Last but not least...If the price isn't a huge concern, Look at Goodyear Wrangler MTR's. By buddy runs them and they're an awesome tire.

Later.

I have had 4 sets of tires now on my XJ.
30" Pepboys M/T's - Noisey good traction offroad, terrible in the rain

31" Trxus - Awesome offroad, couldnt keep them balanced and very heavy

31" MTR's - Good all around tire, really dont like sticky mud

32" Kumho's - So far so good

bfg muds are great but the sidewall is kind of thin compared to others

goodyear mtrs are pretty strong but suck in the mud. not sure why they have "mt" in the name but they are good in the rocks.

i ran a set of mastercraft courser m/ts. great tires, not real loud and wore pretty well.

ultimate strength and traction: SUPER SWAMPERS!!

My buddy has run BFG MT/R's in every type of terrain. He's never had too much trouble in mud, or anything else....I've read a couple of reviews that state that they are less then desirable in mud, but from my friends experience, I'd have to disagree...

I think I've made up my mind on the Pro Comp XMT's. Seems like a pretty good tire.
