i forgot to tell, LPG is a cleaner fuel compared to gasoline or diesel. exhaust is only water and CO2. no carbonmonoxide to kill ozone layer. Plus, you no longer need a catalytic converter. Becasue it is there to oxidize CO molecules to CO2.

If you need a high performance application and still want to save earth, you can try LPG or CNG.

Default mpi map change

Can the italian MPI/ECU be flashed to run LNG/CNG?

I've installed the mechanical/single point systems. The come jetted for LPG and I change the jet. The driver can't tell the difference between CNG or gas. Nice to fill up at home for less...

For liquid state natural gas, i think ECU needs to be re programmed. May be some other type of injectors are required.

The injectors would be the same. The Liquid NG is used as a gas after it passes through regulators and what not.

lets update.

i got few economy figures with ZJ on LPG. it is 92K miles on its odometer. almost 10K miles has been driven.

during winter times, LPG mixture is differnet in proportions to prevent freezing in stations and in tanks. so it was consuming around 15.6 liters/100km approx 18.1 MPG. now weather is warmer average consumption is less. it is around 20.1 MPG (long term.) this is measured on highway and incity together. lets say average of both. measured on informaiton screen and confirmed by calculating the volume of LPG purchased each time.

if this was gasoline consumption, figures would be 20% less. pretty close to driver averages on "fueleconomy.gov" slightly better than official figures on stickers.

i am planning to replace BFG tires. i do not like them.

I know propane is popular with off road vehicles and as an add on for diesels but I wonder if there is a road legal kit available in the states?

Nice post BTW. Very informative

do you have LPG filling stations? if yes, i am sure you can find legal kits for your vehicle.

The closest thing I have around here is there is a place that fills propane tanks for fork lifts... Have no idea if there is any similarity.

you can use those tanks too. but can be illegal(and risky) for onroad purposes.

tanks used in cars should have basic standards. LPG tanks are realythough and thicker than chasis parts.
