Hello all. I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee (4.0L auto) and the Vehicle Information Center Display in my center console keeps giving out a "Check Oil Level" message. There's nothing wrong with the oil level. I will assume there is a sensor somewhere that sends this information to the display. Does anyone know where this sensor is? Or is it possible to just unplug or bypass it? It's kind of annoying because the message display keeps going back and forth between this message and the date/time screen. Thanks in advance
Look around on the engine oil pan to see if you have some sort of sensor that looks like the one in the pic. From what I've read it should be located inside and outside of the engine oil pan? Potentially the oil level sensor faulty or somethings wrong with wiring and/or the VIC.
My VIC continues to produce an error message that something wrong with my rear tail-lights when I've replaced all the bulbs.
Possibly it's rust and corrosion of the rear tail-light bulb sockets and wiring, needs to be cleaned up as my ZJ is also a 95 which is approx. 23 years. Rust and corrosion can be a problem with older vehicles.
I'm not able to find any information in the service manual about the VIC (vehicle information center) and the engine oil level.
Here's a link to a list of various areas of a vehicle it monitors, however I don't see anything about oil level.
