Default Looking to get a Jeep

Hi all, I'm looking to get a 93-98 Grand Cherokee. What are the problemed areas? Should I get the 6 or 8 Cylinder. Any years to stay away from? Are they still reliable over 100k. Thanks

The V8 models will more than likely all have full time 4wd (249 transfer case, 4hi neutral 4lo) which has its problems with its viscous coupling. Some will tell you they are great, others will have swapped it out for a 231 or 242 transfer case. To me there are more minuses to it than pluses.

The 4.0 6 cyl is a great motor can go well over 200k , has plenty of power and will have the more desirable transfer case already in it. I would try to find one with a 4.0 and without the "limited" package.
