looks like I got a leak there now. I plan on replacing the transmission seal in a week or so when I swap out the 249 tc for a 242 tc. Is it possible to change that seal and does that sound like the correct thing to do?

awesome. so i can just pull the seal with a seal removal tool and then put one right back in. should I jack the truck up from the back so that no atf leaks out of the trans when I pull the tc?

 

Yeah, but you're still going to lose a little. Check the t-case fluid. Sometimes the bad seal causes trans fluid to leak into the t-case contaminating it.

 

that would be ok right now because the 249 uses atf as well from what i have been reading. but of course I wouldn't want anything leaking from the transmission into the 242 tc.
