Default Keyless entry, recalls, questions.

1994 jeep grand cherokee. A day or two ago i was checking my check engine codes like i do about every month, just making sure everything is a go. Then it popped up a code well after trying to learn more about it. I learned that you can request a build sheet on your jeep. thats what i did.

They sent me my build sheet and yes it was like Christmas. When i find new stuff about my jeep i'm just a happy as a 16 year old getting there first car. As you can tell i love my jeep.

Well i seen my jeep had four recalls. I was kinda iffy but after looking up on some of the recalls, i was suprised to see how many problems chrysler had with the grand cherokee. Especially the whole gas tank thing. That was horrible how so many people were killed because the gas tank would explode. But not to start a big debate i will continue on to my questions and my new findings. Here is what the email said.

Our records indicate that the following recall campaign(s) have not been performed by an authorized dealer:

Recall B02 - FLOOR SHIFTER SECONDARY DETENT SYSTEM
Recall N45 - TRAILER HITCH (ZJ)
Recall 733 - BRAKE PEDAL SHIFT INTERLOCK

We suggest that you contact your local authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep or Ram dealer to make arrangements for an inspection and, if necessary, corrective action at no charge to you.

Do any of the above recalls actually worth the effort?

Anyway i learned that my jeep had keyless entry and yes i was jumping up and down like a kid. Well i have no remote for it and the ones i seen on ebay ARE JUST CRAZY. $118 dollars for a beat up one. Jesus Christ help a poor man out. Something my dad says. Does it matter what fob would work? I seen cheap knock offs on ebay. Can i go to a junkyard and find any fob 93 thru 95? Sorry for the long story.

Here is the website i used for getting my build sheet. http://www.jeep.com/webselfservice/j...ull&category=U

To get a fob that will work for your ZJ go to www.keylessride.com. The new fob will have the instruction to program it to your rig. You really should get the recalls done, it won't cost you anything. The fuel tank fire thing is really a non issue in my opinion. Statistically the rate of death from a fuel tank rupture during an accident in a ZJ is no more than any other vehicle on the road. But I would still get the recall done.

Thanks for the link!

Parts are not yet available for the hitch recall but why would you not have the others done? It's free.

I just never liked people with tools around my jeep. So i called chrysler today, with the concern about the recalls. The trailer hitch was a no go. The other two were available. In my experince with life is that nothing is really free. Even know that it is a recall on safety. i'm just not comfortable letting the dealership touch my jeep. To many bad reviews concerning about how they are more concern about making money than quailty. My cousin worked there for about two years and all he would talk about is how crappy the mechanics were.

I worked at a few Dodge dealerships in my life. There are some good techs, but they never do the bottom feeder recall jobs. I would still have them done just to avoid any type of liability if there were an accident.
