waiting on call from Dyntrac but has anybody got a method for me to keep the ABS it works great in snow, so want to keep it for this axle swap.its a 2001 WJ 4.7L. Going to 60 0n the front 80 on the rear.

 

No way I can think of being as the jeeps use a 4 channel system off of the axles and the rear 80 uses a single channel off the carrier inside. The front you may be able to find axles with the abs. Even if you did manage to wire it up the tooth counts may be off as far as pulses go so the system may be all screwy.

Yes this seems to be the down fall need a company to solve the axle tone ring and modulator that is smart enough to know the pulse hell this is 2015 cars are almost flying...

Well, as ZJ Max has said, the logistics of getting the tone rings to match the sensors is the big thing.

Is there any way to keep your original tone rings on the new setup? The rear is tricky because I think they are internal on the backing plates.

 

will study the rear hard tomorrow when I am at the shop..dana 60 seems easy.will call east coast tomorrow and ask also.

 

Totally agree..... Just one problem most people in my area have little to no experience in the snow. So there is no real experienced brains attached to the foot.

 

Yeah,right! People in my area tend to forget how to drive in the snow over the summer. The first snow of the season sends them into ditches or creeping along scared to death, slipping and sliding all over the place on their all season tires.

 

I am in Boulder CO and have to say snow and driving not so bad.. rain pull over.

 

I believe abs is for people that can't drive,I'm 32 but learned to drive in a 74 f250 that had drums all the way around and never had a problem in rain or snow.Anything i have owned with abs i pull the relay on it to turn it off.I have seen times in snow where abs made someone slide out through a intersection because they came flying up to the light and slammed on the brakes.People depend too much on the car to fix their mistakes and not learn from them and not do it again.Last winter we had 13 inches of snow over night i made it home that night with the roads not plowed or salt.I just took my time in my truck in 4 wheel high and the hubs locked and thought before i did anything like turning or stopping.

 

yep Pulling the abs the problem is i hope it doesn't screw with the rest of the on board computer systems.

 

A non-functioning ABS system won't set a trouble code. That's why it's got it's own warning light. Just take the bulb out of it!

 

X2, I agree with Dave, when I swapped in my HP30 & 8.25 in my 01 XJ, I just pulled some fuses & voilą no more lighty.


Watching your build closely, I'm planning on purchasing a WJ from down south & build it up...... keep your build thread updated

 

I used to drive a 79 chevy pick-up with just front brakes for 3 years. Even in winter, got real good at throwin it in neutral if I needed to stop quick on snowy roads.... lol
