So here's the skinny for you Trans Tech Experts...

O2 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overlander 4.7 140K

Started couple days ago when I was driving my 5th grader back to his Moms neighborhood school...

While coming on the ramp to accelerate to highway speed, RPM where at 2k but MPH stayed at 40... engine seemed to hum at a higher pitch then normal? It felt to me like it was still in 2nd and won't go into 3rd? Then again I'm a novice yet I knew enough not to give it more aggressive gas but I let off and back on the accelerator and eventually maybe 5-7 minutes into it I got to about 60 ?

Almost sounded like to me that the trans was acting up, clutches not engaging not sure guys. Not on the expressway she seems to run fine but again last night when I was on the expressway accelerating back from ramp on, it did it again. I stayed in the right lane going 40's until she finally got back up to 60's...What do you Guys think is going on?

Its an 02 with 140K so I was not really looking to put more money in it as I already have about $8k into her but does it sound to you guys that I may need a new trans? Thanks for your input.

FYI - I've had the transmission serviced 25k ago also installed a transfluid cooler when I 1st picked her up at about 110K. Has a trans drop drip under it since I 1st purchased it and when I had it serviced last was told to live with it as it was a big job to replace that seal so I have. The other day when the symptoms 1st began I checked the fluid level and it was down quarter quart. probably from the leak?
