Default jeep problems

Hey everyone im new to this forum and i was hoping i could get some help with this jeep i just baught. I got it for a pretty good deal so i figured it would need some work. my first problem is stalling its a 1997 grand cherokee limited with the 5.2 the rpms stay real low like 500 rpms while idling and itll just stall some times i toke the iac out and cleaned it this morning and it has not stalled once and seems to be a lil better but it still idles real low, any idea on what to do next?? and another thing is the front drive shaft is gone and i asked why and he said better gas milage i have plans on getting it replaced asap but is it okay to drive back and forth from school like that for now??? theres a couple other lil things like two miss fire codes it seems like he never had it serviced or tuned so would new spark plugs help? any advise would be appreciated!

You should really think about putting the front driveshaft back in, unless you have a NP231 or 242 transfercase.

Get a new drive shaft at the pic 'in' pull. Get new plugs for the engine, or go big and give it a tune up and oil change. I like to do that when I get a new (to me) jeep, you never know how others treated her.
