did you check your nss at all?

 

even a bad nss will still let you shift out of park.

i'm thinking theft device. every grand i know has one.

just for S+G, next time it happens, try to unlock each door until it starts.

if not, maybe, just maybe the CPS.... but if it doesn't crank..... i don't know.

 

Probably not the problem, but you can smack the handle on the shifter down, that way it is pushing the stops completely out of the way when going to shift. If the handle has come up off of the post, even a little, you may not be able to clear the metal teeth when shifting.

 

do your brake lights work?

 

The garage is going to have to do that. I'm sitting here with my right leg up.

I sprained it last night when some idiot hit the light pole on the main road and splintered it. Sprained it when I ran out to see the moron was ok. He was ok. He sped off. Got to spend quality time with the cops at 4 a.m when I had to call them.

edited to say It's a torn achille's tendon. I'm out of the Jeep fixing business for about 6 months.
