I have the strangest problem. My Jeep just cuts out. I can drive 5min or a week and then it will cut out as if I switch off the ignition. There is a connector that comes from the bottom of the distributor to the main harness. It seems that if the connector gets hot it cuts out. Can I by pass this connector or is it necessary to be there. Is it possibly the cam shaft or petrol regulator. Please help I am stumpped!

That is the connector to the pickup coil, replace the whole pickup coil and your problem will be solved.
