Default introduction/troubleshooting

Hi, I'm bryan and i bought a 06 grand cherokee laredo (3.7) almost a year ago. It's my second car, I love it and my girl loves it too as it's the car she drives. I come from a mopar background and I also drive an 03 dakota, 5spd built for auotcross. (i know lowering is kind of like sinning in the jeep community but my dakota is very much lowered for what i use it for lol)

I have had a few problems, electrically, with the jeep in the past few months. I've done some reading and i'm gonna try to diagnose the issues based on what I read and would appreciate anything extra you guys have to offer.

My biggest complaint is the brake lights. I changed the drivers side bulb about three months after i got it. and off and on the bottom bulb has not been working and now it just doesnt work at all. but the top drivers bulb works fine. On the passenger side, the parking lights work, but the break light doens't light up when the breaks are applied. (and SUPPOSEDLY, according to my girl all the brake lights work fine when the parking lights/headlights aren't on. Idk bc I havnt seen it) and the third brake light works fine.

I also noticed, when idling, sometimes the jeep has shutter-shaking feeling... like the motor is stuggling to not turn off? i heard thats a common 4x4 tranny thing with the 3.7, I also read that the 3.7 is just a weak motor... idk where to even start on that one.

and lastly, another electrical issue. Sometimes the instruments, high beams, radio.. etc.. flicker and flash randomly. It's only happened a few times. and sometimes the whole car just shuts off.

I'd start by checking/cleaning your grounds and also look for any loose or broken wires. Good luck.
