Default Indicators have stopped working

Hi guys and girls. Brand new member on here and only came across the site due to a little problem with my 2003 Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8

Only bought it Saturday and a faultless drive home was had, came to use it Sunday and from the start up I had no indicators (hazards worked as the should) drove around parked up at Rugby training, after that I took it to a friends house. I was still indicating at junctions in the hope they would start working again and after about 15mins driving they did start to work! And they have done up until on the way into work this morning, they worked as they should and after about 5mins of driving they failed. Hoped they would spring into life on way home but no. They still don't work but as before the hazards still work.

Every other gauge and light works on the dash, it's just the indicators that do not work.

Has anyone else had this problem? Hoping its just a simple glitch!

Thanks in advance for any help.

When you say indicators, I assume you mean turn signals? Could be the switch. If the hazard flashers are working, the flasher is okay.

Thanks for the reply, yes I do mean turn signals.

I have found the problem, it was the flasher relay. After looking around this forum I found it seems to be a common problem. Didn't need a replacement, just the one fitted needed a little wiggle!

Just thinking. There may be a loose connection inside the relay. Also try cleaning the spades (connectors) on the bottom if it happens again.

I have a similar issue with just my left indicator not working sometimes, but think I know what it is.

Its to do with the relay that sits under the dash. Apparently the one for the indicators can get hairline cracks in. See the link below and scroll to the bottom... that a chap used a soldering iron to fix the problem.

As a quick fix try putting your hazards on and then indicating. Then when you turn the hazards off your indicator should be working. Sometimes take a few tries.

I think a replacement relay is about £60.
