Default how do i know if i have track lock

i just ripped out my spiders in my 97 zj and when i went in to get the new ones they asked if i have track lock? how can i tell if i have?

Look for a tag on one of the bolt heads that says you need to add the friction modifier. Trac-Loc axles require a friction modifier to be added.

Best way is to jack up one rear wheel and see if you can turn it with trans in neutral and T-case in 2wd or neutral. If you can turn it then you have an open diff.

If the vehicle is on a hoist check by turning one rear wheel forward. If the other rear wheel turns the same direction you have the Trak Lok. With open diffs the other rear wheel would turn the other direction.

He already has the rear end open.... with the spiders removed... If you have a trac-loc, You can see the clutch packs on the side behind the side gears.

Or....


Open carrier on the left.... trac-loc on the right

so track lock is just another term for posi? but by the picture i definetly dont have trac-loc thanks alot guys

Trac-loc is the Jeep brand name for a limited slip rear end.

Posi traction is the GM brand name for the same thing.
