how to change a cam pos. sensor

Default how to change a cam pos. sensor

is it as simple as just changing the sensor or is there more to it?

If its the 4.0 with a distributor all you do is pop off the cap and rotor, gently pry upward on all sides of the black plastic disc directly below the rotor until it comes free. Unplug the 3 wires coming out of it at the clip, plug in the new one and replace as it was before.

win for the beer you forgot a pack of ciggs too! haha but have a 99 4.0 so it was on top of the oil pump drive, all it was, was literally two bolts and the sensor comes off then plug and bolt the new one and and your good to go. i just wanted to double check that i didnt have to go through some bs of tdc of piston 1 blah blah blah before i started fixing **** lol

Random stalling and a CEL if you are OBD-II.
