I found a 98 5.9 limited near me for $1500, the only catch is it has 186k miles on it. I was able to start it but not drive it due to it being blocked in the guys driveway.

Also the rig has been sitting for 3 or 4 years.

So my questions, is this rig something to consider, and if so, what points should I look at when I go back to take a closer look?

Dodge trannys suck. Other than that its the same as any other solid axle jeep...

Buy it, they are pretty rare with only about 15,000 built with the 5.9.

I bought my 5.9 with 198k for $2500. It is a blast to drive.
Find out why it has been sitting. The viscous coupler in the 249 tends to fail. This is hard on the axle bearings and gears.
It has a better transmission than what was used in most ZJs

Buy it. Even if you don't keep it, you'll have no problem making your money back.

True. If you part it you could come out ahead. The original grilles and hood louvres go for $200-$300 alone.
