I have a 1994 GC Limited with the 5.2l and the torque converter is not locking up what so ever. 1-4 gears are fine. and i had originally thought it was OD not working well i had fiddled and thought about it and relized 1-4 is working its the TC that is NOT locking up at ll im going 65MPH and the rpm is at like 2800 rmp. when it should be at about 1800 or so like on my g ps IDENTICAL jeep. sooo what are some possibilitys that could be casueing this. 1-4 shift flawlessly. just no TC-LU PLEASE HELP ANY IDEAS!!!
Very likely your lockup solenoid went bad. It is combined with the overdrive solenoid and bolted on the valve body in the transmission. Very easy to access with the pan removed. I would first check and make sure you are getting voltage at the plug first. The solenoid is controlled from the negative current in your computer so the positive is always there. Red is your constant power and the black and white wires controll the respective solenoid function with negative ground.

Hello, my 1994 jeep is also not shifting into overdrive but works great in every other gear....the problem slowly got worse over acouple of weeks....now no overdrive at all....revs about 2800 @ 60 miles an hr....instead of 1900....can you please tell me what fixed your problem? was it the overdrive solenoid?
