I have a 98 jeep grand Cherokee and it has started making a noise i can only describe as marbles in a can when i slow down or driving under 45 mph.Above 45 the noise goes away. this is a link to a youtube video that has the closest to the sound i have .in the video its at the 40 second mark .Any help would be very helpful.

Sounds like pinion roar to me. Crawl under it and look for slack on stuff.

i have had vehicles with busted catalytic converter material make funky pinging noises at low speeds or low rpm in general.. basically when the exhaust flow isn't very high... hard to tell in the video though, crappy laptop speakers are not making it easy

i was going to take it to have it looked at today but it wasn't making the noise at all .which was frustrating would the cat going bad cause that .

I had a similar sound coming from my old Datsun 4x4. Ended up being part of the front case for the transmission center shaft support broke along with the bearing and was rolling around inside.

like i said... my speakers arent letting me hear this well... were you able to get it checked out??

not yet but like i said the noise has stopped which makes no sense
