So my wifes DD (1999 wj) Is getting its bi-yearly emissions test soon. Her cel is on so I pulled a code for a faulty Nss , However the NSS has never given us any trouble before.
I reset the computer yesterday to see if it still spit the code and today it did.
Is there a way to bypass the Nss and not have the cel come on?? Any cel will cause a fail on emissions testing here.
Thanks in advance.

You can't bypass it and still have everything function properly or not have a CEL. You have to bite the bullet and fix it right the first time.

You are a gentleman and a scholar! Now I can just remove it and replace it?

That's the info I'm getting. You might lose a little fluid from there so have a pan/container ready. It might help to raise that side of the Jeep and support it with stands so the fluid runs to the other side of the trans pan before removal of the switch. JMO

I don't see why he couldn't bypass it. Just cut the wires from the sensor, twist them all together, and tape it off.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but like most basic sensors it should appear to the computer that it is working properly.

I can't say whether or not the computer would accept that, plus then the reverse lights would be on all the time, and it would start in gear too.
