Default Help 2004 grand Cherokee problems

My 16 year old got a 2004 grand Cherokee for his first car. we have been having to add water to it once a week for about a month. We were thinking maybe it needed a water pump but just haven't had the chance to get it to a mechanic to check it out. Today, it died on him and won't restart. It didn't overheat and it wasn't smoking. Any ideas??

Welcome to the forum to you and your son!

The 04 WJ's IMHO was the last year of good Grand Cherokee's, I have one of them also along with an XJ.

It will help if you fill out more details on the rig for quicker/better answers.

What Fred said is true, it's the last jeep with a "live" front axle, except Wranglers.

If you've got a 4.7 V8, I would recommend a compression test. You may have a leaking head gasket. The "no start" can be any number of thing. Start by checking fuel pressure and pulses from the Crankshaft Position Sensor.
