Heater Core. I have heat but....
I have heat but my core is leaking because I have antifreeze all over my passengers side floor. I can see the drips on the inside of the firewall....nothing inside the engine compartment firewall.
A few years ago I thought I had a leak in my radiator...so I used the "sealer". Drained and refilled the system with the sealer. Seemed fine.
Got a low coolant light to find that my overflow was low. Refilled and it was fine. Every so often the alarm would come back (low fluid level). Refill it and it's fine. Was vacuuming my truck and realized it's leaking under the dash.
Can this ONLY be the heater core? Heat works, defrost pumps good heat. AC works no problem. I do get that "fog" on my windshield everyone talks about, but only on occasion.
Even though I have heat, is it inevitable that my heater core is done?
Or should I first try and re-flush it? Winter is coming.....wtf.

Just keep in mind you're breathing that s**t! Ethelyne Glycol will kill you!
Best replace you heater core before it gets too cold. I had to do one at 8* below zero, outside in my driveway!

Mechanic buddy of mine said they charge 6 hours to do this job @ about $100 an hr.. So, I guess I can expect it to take me a whole weekend and a 30 pack. I can only imagine how many screws I will have leftover.
It's the suggestions I didn't want to hear....oh well. Thanks for the replies.

Leave the 30 pack in the house. Bad things happen to Jeeps after about the 6th beer and only get worse the deeper you get into that 30 pack.

I dont know what year your jeep is but i have a 1994 gc, the dash was a little painful at first but not horrible, dont be afraid of it taking all day, like dave was talking about it being toxic, you may want to go on and try it up, so the heater core isn't your only problem, good luck man!

You'll have to do a search, but someone posted a youtube video link about pulling the dash out to access the A/C evaporator. That should get you started. The video even goes step-by-step telling you where the screws are.

It's a 99 GC, 4.7L.
Yes, I watched the You Tube video. 3 part video....it's pretty good. Will surely help me. I'm just dreading doing it.
Will probably tackle it in the next couple weeks before the snow flies.

Oh that sounds painfully fun. Be glad yours is only 6 hours of labor, some require longer to pull the dash. Give it a good flush when you have it fixed. Should help any flow restriction

I feel your pain. My WJ needs an A/C evaporator and an air door check/replacement. I'm putting it off because it only leaks heat on the floor when shut off and I can't tie it up for long because I need it for my job. I'll probably wait until spring and then bite the bullet and have it done professionally.

Make sure it's sealed to the firewall properly. If it isn't, rainwater won't drain outside and will wet your carpets again. While you have it apart, check the connector on the blower resistor. They tend to melt.
