Default Headliner

I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ Laredo and I want to change the headliner as it is sagging and in pieces. I was wondering is there any other headliner fabrics I can use that doesn’t have foam?

It's really up to you what fabric or material you want to use.

Default Headliner removal

I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ. I want to remove the headliner and have a metal roof instead of fabric. Does anyone else have anything similar to what I want to do and give some tips?

IIRC, I heard Jonathan Ward (Icon restomods guy) say he uses outdoor furniture fabric. It is UV and mold resistant, supposed to be better than the fabrics usually used. Searching online for it I think Joann Fabrics has some. Then I discovered my local independent garden center (Mayo's, a couple locations around Knoxville, TN) has big sample books of the stuff. Seems like the right solution, but pretty expensive too.

Watching videos of people redoing their headliners recommended 3M 90 adhesive to stick the fabric to the shell (cardboard shell?).

I suppose the cheaper way is to remove the headliner with the shell, separate the fabric from the shell, clean off the foam with a wire brush, and glue it back in with 3M 90.

Could probably do with some kind of closed cell insulation between the roof and the headliner before reinstalling.

I was wondering if the cardboard shell could be stiffened with fiberglass resin or fiberglass and resin.
