Default headlights flashing and wont run

Hi all I have a 98 grand cherokee limited and my headlights wont quit flashing and when it starts it revs up and then dies, It sounds like an alrm problem to me but i dont have an alarm resetter and if its a key shutoff i only have a valet key, I bought it used and i havent had it very long so I just need to get it to quit or reset somehow thanks.

Walk around to the pass side door, turn the key to lock and unlock three or more times and open door. This will deactivate the alarm.

X2
I had to do this on my 95 Grand Cherokee Limited. Turned the key lock and unllock and it worked but when I opened the door again it did it again. Then I got mad and locked and unlocked both front doors and never did it again but mine was also older and my alarm wires were cut once.... MAJOR PAIN

wil the lock/unlock 3times thing permanently disable the alarm or just 'til it happens again? If it's a temporary fix, is there a way to disable the alarm permanently? My remote fobs don't work and it's kind of a pain to have to unlock the passenger side with the other key.

Mine will do that from time to time, but I have to put the key in the rear hatch and turn it to shut the alarm off. It usually will go off after I replace or diconnect my battery.
