I would have called this crazy talk were it not for my test driving experience today. I drove a 4.7 WJ for the first time this morning and expected to feel more pep off the line. Obviously if I punched it then it would take off, and mid-high range really flys, but with my customary light foot on the pedal I felt like my 4.0 was just a little quicker to get moving. Not sure what to make of that. I'm very interested to get behind the wheel of a 5.2 ZJ to compare as I hear they have more low end grunt than the 4.7. But make no mistake, mid to high range was fun...

WTH is going on. I put a bumper on the front. about 120lbs with the winch. I dont think that would drop it alot though.
First of all, 10 miles of driving isn't enough to tell anything really. Secondly, it sounds like you're relying on your overhead display to tell you your mileage? They are known to be off and should never be trusted. I've kept my mileage for years and use fuelly.com so I know what my vehicles are doing. I always reset my average mileage on my WJ's trip computer just to try to keep it as high as possible with careful driving, but in 2 years there have only been 2 times that it was right on. Sometimes it's higher, sometimes lower, and there is never any real rhyme or reason. Third, your driving style will affect your mileage more than anything you could ever bolt on.

what i mean is i drove it for a few days and it was rising slowly and today it just dropped very quickly on the mpg display and is still dropping. just driving it today it went from 12.8 to 11.6. it was at 12.8 for a week and then today just dropped. I know the display is most likely off but what its showing is me is that im getting worse mpgs. i can watch the fuel gauge go down it seems like. ill just put the 4.10s in it and see what happens. i really have to give it gas to get up to speed.

I found a youtube video a while back of a drag race between a cherokee and a dodge ram (I forget the motor's size, it was a V8 though). The cherokee OWNED the first half and then the truck came out of no where like a bat out of hell.

hey guys. i've been tuning up a little for maintenance purposes. I just replaced the alternator, belt, coil pack ,plugs, fan clutch, fuel filter, water pump (cleaning battery posts and engine ground was the most noticeable). my next move is fuel injectors. Any recommendation on brand? and quirky things about the job that I don't want to find out by surprise? what is this seafoam stuff? i'm sure my tank is nice a cruddy...will that help?

Thanks
