grand cherokee shifting problem
Hi All
New to this so bear with me. I have a 1999 Grand Cherokee that has not had any transmission problems at all. Yesterday I stopped at a store and when I was leaving the transmission would not shift into second gear. I tried to manually shift it to help it along but didn't help, i also tried with and without the overdrive on, nothing. I can run it in drive 2, rpms at 3500, speed about 30mph that how I got it home.
It seems like its not even trying to shift into gear ???. fluid is full. Any help anybody
Thanks
Dennis

im no expert on tranny but mine did the samething and it was a solenoid in the transmission...i know in the later grands theres a tcm and if you unplug it you should be able to shift manually thrugh all of the gears,i believe your tranny is in limp mode which protect it from further damage.

not sure if i am doing this correctly or not. My engine is the 4.0 and from what i can gather the tcm is located under the dashboard, is that where yours was.
