hey guys im new to the jeep forum. I had a few issues lately with my 1997 jeep grand cherokee. friday it started making a clunk while driving. still making the noise I was going down the highway when I heard a snap, I pulled over looked underneath and what do you know the front driveline was hanging down hooked to the tranfercase.I removed it and im running with my back axle. but ever since my jeep starts to weave th steering wheel completely straight. about 45,50 mph I start to get this horrible shaking like the jeep is bouncing bad. I press on the brakes and it slowly stops. no idea what it is. I checked the front jacked it up gave everything a good shake nothing seemed .loose.

 

sounds like axel bearings or something in your front diff is toast be safe buddy

 

I have a similar shaking issue but no clunk or drive shaft falling out on it's own... Ill be checking this out to see what the cause of yours is

 

thanks for the replies. im never going past 45 thats when the shaking starts. the u joints were shot when I took a look after getting the shaft off. it was never doing this until the shaft problem I suppose I will have to call up the shop.for now just driving back and forth to school. it hasnt got any worse.
