Default Grand Cherokee Laredo (1993) Brake Question!

Alright, need new rotors and such for the 5.2l 4wd ZJ Laredo. I can find the front rotors fine, but whenever I look for rear disc rotors only drums come up on the typical parts store site (Autozone, Advanced, etc.) and I can never find rear rotors. Are they the same front and rear on the ZJ on that year? Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear, just for information's sake. The people I bought it from said the rear axle was replaced. Not sure if the whole assembly was, or just the "rear end." Thanks in advance!!!

you got to make sure they look up grand cherokee. If not maybe try a 1994 grand cherokee, should be same rear disc.

I'm finding out that the rear D35 isn't from 1993 like the rest of the ZJ is. So I need to know I guess, what years were all compatible/similar as far as brakes go so I can order the right brake parts from a different year. (if that makes sense.)

On the '93 ZJ the front brakes were disc, but the rear's used drums.
Standard rear discs didn't appear until '95 in the ZJ.
I looked up those brake drums: AutoZone part # 80012, $38.99 each. >->http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-izuafZ8knp2

Check to see which rear axle you have , since you say it's been switched.
The later V8 powered ZJ's came with D44a axles, and rear disc brakes. If someone added a D35 w/rear discs, you need to take one in and try and have it matched.

Well, I can tell you're the "ZJ guy" here, Blue. Anyway, the guy who swapped the rear axle tells me it's from a 1998 model year (It's a Dana 35). So, I'll just order parts from that to match. Thanks for the help guys. Just one last question for ****s and giggles, were the 1998 rear axles and brakes the same as the 1995 axles when the rear discs first debuted?

The '98 axle had ABS, but the brakes were probably the same. JMO as I didn't check the #s.

This '93 had ABS too. All the stock ABS wheel sensors are hanging off the thing right now. These ZJ's are totally different monsters than my old XJ.. haha. Will my brake system still function like normal if I removed the ABS system, or just left the sensors disconnected? I mean "Function like normal" as in can I still drive it and brake without the ABS junk there. I don't care if I don't have ABS. Never did on the XJ.

If a part of the ABS system is unhooked, or inoperative, the brakes still function just not as an ABS system. It's like driving without ABS.

*Unless there's a problem with your brakes basic hydraulic system.

Awesome, thank you. Have another question, turns out. I bought the soft line that comes from the body side hard line, to the rear axle, which has a little junction box on it for the hard lines for the left and right side calipers to get fluid from.. Ordered it for a 1993, does anyone know if this was the same for a 1998 Axle which I just found out is underneath it? Or will I have to go return the part and order a new one for the year of the axle I have??
