Grand Cherokee Clicking Sound
Also if I go the jasper route I will not have that problem for 2 reasons.1.-Jasper Corrects original design flaws. So it would last a lot longer.
2.-A reman engine is a new engine, so even if it died around the 150K mark (which is when they seem to go) the jeep would have 300K on it. At that point I would have gotten my $$ out of it. With my current job I only have a 20mile round trip 6 days a week, would take a long time to get over $100K.

If I had owned the car for a while I would agree, But I just bought the Jeep three weeks ago

In other words....most of the horror stories you hear about the 4.7L and the 3.7L for that matter are after the engines have been poorly maintained. I have 208,000 miles on mine and my wife's Dakota has 165,000 with no issues or noises. I have replaced several timing chain kits on these engines for my customers and even the timing chain kits are improved from OEM...

When i replaced my lifters in my 4.0L that was the sound i got for 4-5 sec after the first start until the new lifters was filled with oil. So maybe its a stuck lifer?

Did you ever find out about the clicking sound? On driverside under the hood about in the middle of the fender under the hood there is a round cylinder shaped part if you run the car and put your finger on it you may feel the click. This could be your issue. They all tend to do this. There is no need to replace unless the noise is just bothering you. Check this could be a simple fix. There are two small hoses that attach to it I believe.
