Hi,
i wanted to now what the jeep grand cherokees were like? its a 01 limited edition 4.0 petrol are the reliable? what the fuel consumption (bad) ?? what to look out for when buying and is there any common problems with them? information welcome!!

grand cherokees are nice.... the 4.0L is a good engine, not horrible on gas milage. A 2001 should be pretty comfortable, nice and updated. They look pretty sweet lifted too.

 

Buy a v8 grand cherokee. They get better mpg's and have all the power you need.

 

We have an '04 WJ ('99-'04 Grand Cherokee) that we bought new and we love it. Very comfortable, a great ride, and the V8 is great for towing while still good on gas. 19-21 MPG on a trip, and it has 88,000+ miles now, and the only problems we've had were with a brake recall and taking it to the dealer to have the Transmission Control Module "re-flashed" a couple of times because of shifting issues.

That lists problems that have plagued some models. They're not recalls though.

as for mpg, my 4.0L gets about 18.5 mpg combined, 80% city driving, anywhere from 21-28 on the highway depending on speed. that's with light driving, with lead foot and 4x4 mixing I can get as little as 14 mpg on a tank. The VIC has an awesome feature called Instant mpg which is amazingly fun and seriously distracting to play with. Coast down a hill at 80 mph and watch it shoot over 70 mpg, pretty awesome.
