Default Good Ol' Oil Question

Well everyone here's the biggest question everyone LOVES answering. Whats BEST oil I should run in my l6 4.0? Rotella T5 10w30 or Rotella T6 5w40? I'm a big Rotella fan, but open to hear other opinions too.

Ps, I live in Northeast, OH and go to school in Cincinnati, OH occasionally travel to and from.

01 Grand Cherokee 4.0 l6.

Which ever oil you choose, you should still add MotorKote oil to it. Google it, YouTube it and you'll see why.

Rotella T6. I just put it in my 01 4.0 GC. Also use a quality filter like WIX.

Now here's another question, which quiets down our noisy motors more? 10w30 or 5w40? And does anyone run Lucas Addative with their oil?

Use a good quality oil and you shouldn't need additives. I use Mopar filters. They only cost me $6.28 at my dealer. I use Valvoline Max-Syn 5W-30 changed at 5K miles. It comes out slightly brown but the new is still clear 50 miles later. Last time I changed the valve cover gasket, everything was just wet. 163,742 miles on her.

Finding an oil you like is like women, find one you like and stick with her until she does you wrong. The different varieties are just about the same. Lots of choices.

I use the Valvoline Max Life syn oil and sometimes I have added the Lucas oil but not a whole lot (maybe 1/2 bottle) at oil change time. The Lucas stopped a small oil leak I had in my 94 so I kept using it for years. I use the 5W30 and swear by it. A friend of mine had huge cargo ships and was a former mechanic and he said to keep your engine lasting longer use the synthetic oil. He used it in his huge ships. Been using it for years now and find engine runs smoother and valves don't rattle. My late mom was an antique car judge and she said all old car owners changed their oil every jerk and that was their secret to long lasting engines.

Depends on your driving habits when to change oil also. Every 5K if you drive a lot or every 3K if you do a lot of short trip around town driving. Short trip driving is twice as hard on the engine as highway miles. I don't drive much and change every year....yes year. Probably don't put more then 2K on my car a year.
