Gas Tank Safety Issue

Gas Tank Safety Issue
I heard there is some issues with the tank on 93-04 zjs as the tank is prone to rupturing during a rear end collision. My tank has a metal shield near the exaust pipe and a class 3 trailer hitch on back of truck. Is there more I can do to shield the tank since it is plastic?
