Default Fuel Filter Questions

Have yet to change it on my 04 JGCL w/ 70K. Noticed it has 3 lines instead of 2 like most Fords. Is this a simple filter swap or get it up off the ground type of job? I've done Mustangs, F150's and several Tauruses w/o and issue.

1-10 Scale for difficulty

Thanks

Zero difficulty, there is not a fuel filter on a 2004.

There is a filter, it's a filter/pressure regulator combination. The manual says it never needs replacing but that has been debunked. Make sure you get a quality WIX filter, or get one from the dealer. Many (including myself) had issues with a cheaper ones from most stores. The only issue some people face in replacing them is with the clips. They don't require any special tools like a Ford, but some folks have trouble with one or two of them.

Good to know. It's going to the Dealer in couple hours for a free multi-point inspection and complimentary wash. Keep noticing nickel size dark drops in the driveway. Let them get it up in the air and look around. I will be asking about the filter/pressure regulator combo and see what kind of answer they give me.

According to the Lead Service Adviser it does not have an in line filter. He claimed the gas tank would need to be dropped, etc. 4 hours labor to change it out.
