its bolted. there is holes in the side of the frame I made a template and drilled out the plates. I also took advice from some and put a second plate on the outside of the frame like a sandwich. I welded nuts to my bumper so I could bolt it on.

Just wondering why. I always thought that if you did that and needed that D-ring then you would have to release the hook which means you need to back out the winch and then put it back. Seems a whole lot of hassle for nothing. Again just my opinion, but if it works for ya then thats cool. I just take the time to put the hook near the fairlead. Not too much tension just enough so I can still move the hook that way I can use my d-rings on the front.

Never gave it much thought actually. Oringally I thought I would add a hoop and then put the hook there. I decided against it so I just hooked it on. To me those d-rings were cosmetic. Have not thought about a cituation where I would use them. Hopefully this spring and summer I get a chance to get out and actually use this jeep for some fun stuff, thats a bit challenging.
