Disconnect the battery wait a minute or so and connect back. Don't know about pricing in the UK but here you can pick up a cheap code reader for about $30.00 US. It's nothing speciel at that price but they usually read codes and reset comp. I paid about $80.00 for the one I bought 3.5 yrs. ago and I think it sells for about 1/2 that now, so the prices have really dropped.

Here's how you check the codes yourself. >-> http://jeephorizons.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2719
After fixing the problem, disconnect the battery to remove the "Check Engine" light.
If you don't fix the problem the light will return. And if you don't disconnect the battery after the repair the comp. won't know you've done the repair. JMO

oh so to get rid i disconnect the battery again, lol, see what i mean its quite funny, get a code meaning the battery was disconnected, and to get the light to go out, you disconnect the battery, could be a big circle this,

That could be caused by a loose/bad connection to the PCM. Check the connector and the pins for corrosion. JMO
