A few months back the tailpipe broke loose where it connected to the muffler. No big deal I removed it. Apparently thats the only hanger (I think) that supports the whole exhaust as it broke off right in front of the converter. So my question is,are there any other exhaust hangers besides the one for the tailpipe? Usually the converter itself has one.

well on my 96 the only brackets i have are on the rear tail pipe theres 2 the rest just clamps together i dropped the muffler and put in a glass pack

There should be a hanger on the transmission mount.

That's what I'm thinking as well. I swear every car I've owned had a hanger around the trans area.

yeah mine has it right before the cat but there no support from cat to past the muffler.

My 97 ZJ didn't have a tailpipe when I got it, so I just drilled a hole in the rear kickup behind the muffler and installed a universal hanger on the back of the muffler. I was concerned about breaking the cat. Problem solved.
