My '96 GC has about 170 K miles and it seems to run alright, but I noticed in the past couple of days that whenever I hit the gas pedal, the engine is ridiculously loud and I have no idea what would make it that loud. If any one has an ideas, I know I didn't provide really any information about it, but I don't really know that much about cars, but if any one has any ideas it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

 

You should probably try to let us know what the sound is like. A loud sound could be anything from a leaky exhaust manifold to a thrown rod bearing. Also, what motor do you have? The v-8s were pretty famous for leaky exhaust manifolds.

 

its a v6, and the noise sounds like really really loud engine, possibly exhaust but I don't know much about cars, all I know is that every time I hit the gas the engine seems to get really loud and it vibrates a little bit. And when I move the gear from park to either reverse or drive the engine makes a different humming noise than it did before.
