Exclamation Engine Error Code Help

I'm getting an "12" error code which reads "Neither rich nor lean condition detected from the oxygen sensor input. or Oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range."

My grand cherokee Is a 1994 5.2 liter v8. It needs a jump everytime to start. At which time the starter sounds strong. Currently it starts up and th en runs and dies like its out of gas any help on this matter could be really appreciated!

bad alternator = poorly charged battery = computer not running. take your alternator out and get it tested at an autozone or some where that offers the same services.

I would start with a fresh battery, one that you know will hold a charge or at least charge your battery for 24 hours then perform a load test. Most auto parts places will load test it for free. Then move on to the alternator and have that checked. I have seen batteries that were so weak the vehicle quit after being jumped even though the alternator was ok.

that is also true. start with the cheapest things first. either take the alt out and get it tested, or take the battery out, charge it for 24 hours, then test it. whichever is cheaper.

don't over look your battery terminal connections. my ZJ was having crazy electrical problems, turned out the negative terminal was corroded and I was only getting intermittent ground.
