Electrical System going Haywire in 1996 Grand Cherokee
My 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo runs fine. However, it has gone somewhat paranormal on me while driving. I hear a constant clicking sound behind the glove box, the console shows my driver side door open (even though it is clearly shut), and everytime I hit a bump or turn, the interior lights flicker on and off. When I finally park, the interior lights stay on. I play with the switch on the lights and they still stay on. When I get out of the vehicle, if I put my whole body against driver's side door, then finally lights go off, I lock the vehicle with my keyless entry, and alarm is activated.
That causes another problem. My alarm will randomly just go off if it sits there in the driveway for any length of time. I know I have pissed our neighbors off to no end.
Last issue regarding the front doors is that my keyless entry will lock and unlock the rear doors, but I still have to lock the front driver and passenger doors manually. I replaced the keyless entry FOB and still my front doors do not lock automatically.
Any ideas, advice, suggestions, would be appreciated.

There is a corrugated tube on the hinge side of the door. It has a wire loom in it. One or more of those wires is broken.
Splice in a new wire. It sounds like the negative(black) wire.
The tube is short and can be detached from the door side easily. Dont try to disconnect the connector at the door. It's a pain and won't help you with this repair.

Also, did you just suggest that the guy "throw parts at it?"
For Shame!
OP, if you want to check the switch that Bustedback is talking about, get your multimeter out and test the switch. It is a simple switch. When the button is depressed, there should be no continuity.

Here's a shade tree mechanic approach. Just unplug the switch and see if it cures the problem. If it does, you can deal with it when you have time.
