ECM getting hot

Model: Grand Cherokee
Engine: 5.2L V8
ECM getting hot
My computer tends to act up when it is hot outside and the running temperature is normal. I even hooked up a obd1 scanner to it and when it's at normal running temperature the jeep won't communicate with the scanner. Anyone have any ideas?
