1999 grand Cherokees with 4.0 l6 are dime a dozen .Now finding one for a v6 will be difficult considering there no v6 in 1999 jeeps.

These guys don't let up for a second! You either have the 4.0 liter straight 6, or the 4.7 OHC V8. The difference is obvious by lifting the hood.

The next question they're going to ask is what transfer case you have and weither you have CV joints or not. There were several different shafts used. My best suggestion is go to a good truck repair shop. They will tell you who to see about your shaft.

One thing however. If you have full time 4WD (Quadradrive), running without a front shaft will destroy your transfer case. If you have Selectrac (NP242 with the 2WD option) you're okay.

As far as I know, the most common shaft used in 99 had a double-cardon joint at the transfer case end and a CV at the differential end. I could be wrong. My wife had her opinions as well.

Mine just started popping and screaming took it out and the rezeppa at the t-case. I can move the whole end on the of the shaft and the ball bearings aren't being touched or moved. Thinking of buying a cv rebuild kit but need move input.
