Default Differential Fluid & Additive or not?

Hey all....new to the site and I know various questions have been asked on this but thought I'd just ask the direct questions because I don't believe I found it asked anywhere so here goes:

2007 Grand Cherokee Laredo AWD needing to change front and rear diff fluid at the local Mobil 1 quick lube place. Tried asking the attendent if he knew anything about needing to add limited slip agent.....don't think he really knew what I was talking about and I'm not so sure myself either.

So with an All Wheel Drive planning to use Mobil 1 do I/or should I add any LSA to the Mobil 1 Synthetic 75W-140 gear oil, which I was planning to request from them. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

On my ZJ w/ the limited slip rear end I use the recommended fluid and use the limited slip additive.

Does the vehicle have a limited slip rear end?

What fluids are recommended in the Owner's Manual?

So it looks like I have a Quad Drive II with ELSD not sure if I have ELSD in front, rear or both but I think it's both. Anyway based on this I'm assuming if I used a Mobil 1 product I would need to get an additive for the ELSD? Help!!!

Quadra-Drive II
Quadra-Drive II uses the New Venture Gear NV245 transfer case mated to front and rear axles containing electronic limited slip differentials or ELSDs. Jeep added traction control in 2005 and starting in 2011 only a rear ELSD is offered, while the front has an open differential.

According to wkjeeps.com ELSD take Mopar 75W-140 (API-GL5) lube and 4 oz of Limited Slip Additive. If you go to that website, look under "Maintenance Information and Schedules".

it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Download a copy of your build sheet for yours then you will know exactly what you have installed for options, my 04 "Overland" edition came with the ls's in front and rear with 3.73 gears.
