2001 Grand Cherokee with 4.7 liter engine. When you turn the key over, there is a long delay before it starts. I'm used to it popping right off when you turn the key, but now there is a several second delay. Sometimes you don't think it is going to turnover at all. The starter sounds fine when it finally does turn over. Someone told me it could be the starter, the starter relay, or the ignition switch. What do you guys think? How would I check for those three possibilities?

First thing to do is check that your battery cables are good. Then clean the cable connections at the battery, pos n neg, the engine ground and the cable connection at the starter. Then try starting again.
If problem remains, I would jump the starter itself. If the slow start is still there, the problem is in the starter. If the starter cranks normal, during the jump start, the problem is in the starting circuit. More troubleshooting needed.
