Is it a good idea to get a danna 44 front for my 01 WJ and up date gears and locker or just update gears and locker in my danna 30 solid?

Not breaking parts (yet) just alot of miles(210,000) and if I was gona rebuild it with lower gearing (for the bigger tiers) and a true locker I figured I might get a superior axel instead and sink money into that have a d44 front and rear

If you wheel all the time and have the coin to buy a new axle that will bolt right into place, I say go for it. But if you're only going on trails and just fartin around, leave the D30.

Depends on tire size and what kind of terrain you ride. There are no D44s that will bolt in so you'd have to find one and weld on mounts. Also bolt pattern will be different so adapters too or you can swap the rear to match the front. BTW you don't have a D44 rear it's a D44a. That will make a difference when you need to replace parts on it because pretty much everything is different, even shafts and lockers.

Yes you can but they are basically the same as a TJ Rubi D44. D44 center section and D30 tubes and outers. They even use your factory D30 knuckles, bearings, brakes etc. It's not a true D44. Not to mention they run 3k. Just for reference I paid $250 for my 8 lug D44 with chromos and a Detroit Truetrac, which I sold for $200 because I hated it.

I sold the truetrac not the axle. I felt sorry for the guy I sold it to. But some folks like a LSD. I went from a locker to it and might as well have had an open diff. Never again for me, it's locked or nothing. By the time the axle was installed I had about 300 in it with new bearings and hubs, made my own brackets.
